"Guy Hawes has an exceptional ability to balance a horse’s feet. He understands the importance of pulling back the toe and giving ample heel support, which I feel is fundamental in keeping a horse sound. Guy also has an incredible knowledge of diseases of the equine foot. He and I have worked together on multiple medical cases involving both therapeutic shoeing and more elaborate interventions such as treatment of white line disease. I have been very impressed with Guy’s knowledge of the diseases affecting the equine foot, and his ability to therapeutically shoe to treat such diseases. Equally as valuable as his skill is Guy’s willingness to work as a team with the veterinarian and the horse owner, and his ability to communicate with both parties.
I am always happy when I go to a barn and find that Guy Hawes is the on site farrier. I know that with Guy on board the horses will be well shod and Guy and I can work as a team to treat any foot problems that may arise."

"Wow. What to say about Guy? We went through three different farriers after we opened our barn. Each of them claimed to be great warmblood/jumper shoers, but we always were left with tiny, barrel shaped feet.
Guy is the first farrier we’ve found who we actually are excited to see pull up. We’ve been all over the country, and of all the farriers we’ve used, Guy is not only the best farrier we’ve used, he’s also a real gem. In addition to the A+ farrier work, Guy is prompt with returning phone calls and quick with the emergency service, plus you get a free comedy show while he’s working!
It’s great to have a farrier we trust with our big guys. It’s even better to have a farrier we’d invite over for dinner."

"Thanks to Guy Hawes, my mare has recovered from a severe case of White Line disease. He showed genuine concern for her comfort throughout the painful ordeal. His knowledge and experience with handling this disease allowed for a complete healing, and within 10 months a new disease-free hoof emerged.
I am grateful for Guy’s proactive and capable approach to his profession, most farriers wouldn’t have tackled this problem. I haven’t hesitated recommending him to others looking for the best care possible."
